Is Online Learning More Effective than Office Learning?
In 2019, Covid-19 appeared as a contagious virus that forced people around the world to stay at home in order to reduce the risk of spreading. This situation created new innovations in the world of education. All school and university activities shifted to online learning.
Online
learning made use of available technology, such as Google Classroom, Google
Meet, and Zoom. In this system, teachers and students needed proper gadgets,
either smartphones or laptops.
At first,
it may look simple and easy, but in my opinion, online learning was not very
effective. Why? Because it required gadgets, students could easily get
distracted, for example, by games, entertainment apps, or even worse, they might
fall asleep during class.
This is
different from offline learning, where students are less likely to be
distracted. Even if they are, teachers can quickly handle the situation
directly. Online learning also requires a strong internet connection. Without a
good signal, the learning process is disrupted and materials are delivered
late. Meanwhile, in offline learning, teachers and students only need to be
present in the same classroom, making it easier for teachers to coordinate the
class.
So, in my opinion, offline learning is more effective compared to online learning. Online learning has many
weaknesses, so it is not suitable if overused.
